Rheumatic fever

Rheumatic fever is defined as a autoimmune collagen disease . It’s a inflammatory disease caused by Group A beta hemolytic streptococcal Disease . It’s a complicated condition of Endocarditis.

CAUSATIVE AGENT- Group A beta hemolytic streptococcal bacteria.

Clinical Manifestation

It’s mainly described in a two criteria-

1. JOHN’S Criteria – A major criteria

2. MINOR Criteria

JONE’S Criteria

J- Joint Inflammation( Polyarthritis)

O – Pancraditis- Inflammation of whole layer of heart . Like – Endocarditis , Myocarditis , Pericarditis.

N- Nodules : A firm painless subcutaneous Nodules or present over the knee , Joint etc.

E- Erythema Marginatum : A pink rashes develop.

S- Sydenham Chorea : A purposeless movement of hand and feet.

Minor Criteria-

Fever
ECG : Prolonged P R interval

Arthralgia

DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION

History collection and physical examination

Doppler Echocardiography

Endocardial biopsy

O- titer Anti – strepto lycin

Management

To provide a complete bed rest to patient for 6 to 8 hour .

To maintain a input and output chart of patient.

To provide a Fowler position to the patient for reduce the tension on their abdominal muscle.

To provide medication time to time .

A complete attention towards the diet of a patient.
